MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 master cylinder

Hi everyone,

Its been a while since i signed up to this forum and believe it or not but the summer project I started back in 2010 hasn't been finished!!

I've attached some recent pictures of the car which has had a fresh lick of paint. Im now starting to assemble the car and next up for me is the brakes.

I bought a seal kit for the cylinder and had a tough time taking the old cylinder apart. The nylon washer was a real pain! I have attached some pics of the cylinder and piston and there are some marks on it (some may well have been from me!). Do you think this is ok to refurb?

I have also seen that on Moss-Europe they sell a GMC170 master cylinder for 64 and an after market GMC170Z for 25! at these prices I thought it best to return the seal kit and buy new. Has anyone bought one of these before? MGOC sell GMC170 for 130 so im a little wary of the prices.

Look forward to hearing from you guys, hopefully there will be more frequent updates to come!

Tom
