MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 5 speed

can any one point me to where I can buy an adaptor plate to fit a 5 speed box into my 1500. I would like opinions on the best bow and method to use. Is it worth doing?
N Sayle

You could always fit a Triumph overdrive box! I did and I have never regreted it.

N Sayle, sorry to hijack. Whta does N stand for?
Neil (K series)

And do I have a suitable Spit overdrive box that I need to sell. Though I wonder what the exchange rate is between Spit o/d boxes (that probably need a rebuild) and custom made wing vents...

There are books with this kind of information in and gearbox chapter is one of the bigger chapters.

Daniel Thirteen-Twelve

Nice wing vents, you could sell them.....

If you are asking about where to get an adapter plate for a ford type 9 to 1500 try Frontline Spridget.

They do most of the other bits if you do not source / make them.

N Sayle, D Tetley and others, I can strongly advice you to get the book shown above, its all in there!!!
Spoil/treat yourself with this book, you deserve it.
Even when im not working on my midget i still enjoy reading it and looking at the pictures.
No, im not looking at the pictures because i cant read, its just that a picture speaks a thousand words... :)

The Frontline adaptor plate, unlike the raw casting of Mr. Mather's linked to above, has a pre-drilled ear on the left-hand side for the slave to slide right into, with a grub screw to fix the (now newly adjustable) slave into position, unlike this arrangement:

http://www.the-wizardsden.com/mg_home/slave.htm

Pic below shows Frontline plate as installed on my 1500, with the adjusting screw hole visible below the slave. It's a neat arrangement, well made, but you'll pay extra for it.
