MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Brake Seals

The servicing recommendations for my 1275, are that the Brake seals should be replaced every 30000 miles, or 3 years whichever comes first.
I rebuilt the car in 1999, with new Peter May front Calipers and Disks, new rear wheel cylinders and linings, a new master cylinder, new Copper pipes, and Goodyear Hoses. Since that time the car has done about 9000 miles, mostly on Sunday runs. The Fluid is dot 4, and has been changed several times since then.

My question is, is there really any need to replace all these seals, in only 9000 miles, just because its 3 times over the 3 year interval.
What does everybody else do ?

Yepp, Its all got to go! Think Of "The Children" in boliva.

Sorry Dave, Im just in a mood...

Seriosly, are they leaking? Id have a look at the handbrake cable, the drums and rotors along with he shoes and pads...If they look and operate good, then spend the day driving instead of wrenching. I think, Im guessing, "Off the top of my head" My personal opinion...the reason for replacing the seals so OFTEN is because the brake pistons are steel and like to rust...Agian just my personal guess

But yes I thought that odd also.

Original calipers seem to last for 30 years without too much trouble and rebuilt ones seem pretty similar. Rear cylinders however last no time at all, and if you flip back the end rubbers you'll often see evidence of seepage, that's the time to change them.

There are no leaks, and I regularly check the pads, Disks, and rear linings. I have fitted a fluid low level warning system. I guess a leaking wheel seal would soon show up, whereas a master cylinder leak would only appear as a soggy pedal or worse.
I was just curious as to what other people were doing.

Pads at least once a year
Discs when needed
Braided hoses every 5 to 8 years (suplyer says 10 better be on the safe side)
The rest when needed/worn but always symetricly
So if one caliper goes i change both.

(but i still haven't fixed my slightly leaky twin MC)
