MG Midget and Sprite Technical - capilliary tube temp gauge

I have the combined type oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge. The temperature capilliary tube has broken. The replacements because you have to buy the whole lot seem quite expensive. Is there any way you can put an electronic sender unit instead?

Not to the existing guage. And there isn't a combined guage with an electrical temp part.

So if you drop the dual guage..you need to find holes for 2 guages. An electric temp and the Oil pressure. (unless you drop the oil pressure in favour of just a low pressue warning light - as per lots of minis)

I went for a complete dash rebuild.....and that definately wasn't cheaper than a replacement dual !

Hi

I had this dilemma, and considerd fiting an electrical gauge on a seperate bracket under the dash. A tempreture sender fitted into a radiator tube would also be required.

Decided it was too much hassel, would not look right and not an satisfactory or economical solution.

Bought a good gauge off flea bay (came from a frog eye)
for £35 works a treat.

Advertised my old one as non working on ebay and guy from Italy bought it for £20. Result

Wow Dean, i like what youve done with your dashboard with the extra clocks and switches.
A bit of a E type dash now and its funtional too.
i have the LHD american dash hich leaves no room for extra clocks.

I like the Aldi Cheap MP3 CD player. got the same one, but perhaps not, mine is the other way around. Was it from Aldi?

Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

It was - they've done several versions over the last couple of years. This one was £40. 2Gb of solid state MP3s and Midget suspension....the perfect match ;-)

The clearance between the flip down panel and the "on/volume" button is incredibly tight. Slam it too hard and it turns the stereo back on. I really need to cut away the trim panel above the tunnel (and behind that enclosure). the extra 5mm that wold allow the stereo to go back would be enough. Was fine for the original one I built it for many years ago.
