MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Design for a rotisserie

I seem to remember someone having a design for a home-built Spridget rotisserie.

Any suggestions?

This is a cheap option Guy. Two Chinese engine stands joined by a couple of lengths of whatever is lying around.
I had some telescoping square section steel that I used to make it easy to get the balance right and enable it to be used on other cars.
The front attaches to the threaded holes each side of the chassis legs.
All up it cost me about $100.

How quickly do you need one? I have one that I am happy to lend you, but it has a Frogeye on it at the moment. The car is targeted to be at Spridget 50, so should be off the frame any day! (I hope...).

It's in Harrogate at the moment.

Knocked this up with some 4x2/2x2 and 1/4" plate/4" pipe from work:

In hindsight, I'd use two engine stands too. Some thinking about hinges in there and you can do it such that you attach one end at a time with an engine crane.

Must have some seriously stiff bar down the centre or a brace between the bar and the gearbox mount otherwise the shell will bend a bit in the middle as you roll it upside down for welding. Scaffold tube is OK if it is thick stuff. If you have a laser thingy then you can point it down the tube and apply a jack at a relevant point to bring the centre of the shell to the correct height. Quite apparent if it is bent once you look down the tube so you could do it by eye.
Been there, done that, had to reweld it straight. :o(

Practical Claasics magazine, quite a few years ago, they made one out of two builders trestles and some bar/box, if you're interested I can see if I can find the article and scan it in.

Thanks Simon,
I had seen that but just couldn't work out how it goes together, and it doesn't look as if it has any sort of stands or trestles.

how the hell does that work then...?
