MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Diff X pin

Does anyone know where i can get a new diff cross pin no.2A7016 & a range of pinion thrust washers, Moss have them as NLA.
Also any advice on a diff rebuild would be appriciated.

try Mini specialists - the planet gears and pin are the same....
David Smith

I use Mini cross-pins. I don't know about the thrust washers, though.

have you tried Brown and Gammons?

I'll try minispares then, this looks like the pin

Norm, I had a bad experiance with B&G about a reconditioned gearbox years ago & have never used them again.
Brad 1380

When I did mine some years ago I was surprised to find that the cross shaft was completely unmarked. But the spacer washers (olives) were virtually non-existent.

Have you stripped it yet, or are you buying parts in advance?

Guy

Guy it's in bits, the olives are non existant & the X pin is worn. Also the pinion has a lot of movement.
Brad 1380

If you've got movement in the pinion, surely the bearings are an issue. The pinion thrust washers aren't going to wear, are they?
Dave O'Neill 2

"The pinion thrust washers aren't going to wear, are they?"

Assume nothing in a midget or Sprite!

Dave,
it will need new bearings throughout. The pinion has a lot of slop so much that the diff jangles if you give it a shake.

Keep driving in a straight line and don't spin a wheel, and you'll keep wear to a minimum.

Pinion thrust washers are not affected by differential effect, unlike planet and sun gear thrust washers.

I've a pin on the way from minispares, just need to order the other bits but Moss seem rather expensive.
