MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Door Glass Removal

Happy New Year All.
Its looking a bit thin on the ground here these days, hope theres somebody out there who can help me.
Im refurbishing the interior of my 77 midget 1500. Its all stripped out. However, the rubber door/widow strips are perished. Got the old ones out & got the drivers side back in using that lovely little tool from Moss. However the passenger side is different. The glass doesnt go low enough to get the tool in to pull the clips up. After much pondering Ive decided to remove the glass. I have the workshop manual & followed this right up to the point of removing the glass from the bottom channel. How the hell does this come out? Your help would be much appreciated
Regards

Nigel, its tricky. But the good news is that you may yet not need to remove the glass.

There is a limiting stop in the bottom of the door about mid-way along the glass when its wound down. Its a sort of L-shaped bracket, originally with a piece of rust-inducing foam of some sort stuck to it. It should be held by a single nut and bolt that you can reach down to. Remove that and the glass should then lower by the extra inch or two to give you the space needed for fitting those lovely little clips!

Cheers Guy, worked a treat. Good tip for anyone else doing this - put a bit of Vaseline in the bottom of the tool (scuse the pun) it saves having to keep fishing the clips out of the bottom of the door

Glad it helped. I did think you might have already got past the point of no return in removing the glass
