MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Dual master cylinder pipes fitting

Couple of questions please .
Q1
Is there a knack to putting in the brake/cutch fittings into the master cylinder, special/ adapted spanner maybe ? Seems almost impossible to get a spanner in there . I was thinking of putting them in tightening with enough flex in the pipes then pushing the cylinder down into the pedal box . The problem seems to be you then you cant put the rear bolt through the pedal box with it bolted to the bulk head then from the footwell .
Q2 . Could someone post a photo of the coils in the clutch pipe to allow for engine movement please . Do you do it down by the chassis leg ?
Many thanks .

Q1. I've always done it with the master mounted in the car. You might be lucky to get 2 flats with an open ended spanner. I push the pipe fully into the orifice and use the pipe as a guide to introduce the nut onto the thread. Doing this I have always been able to get it screwed in almost fully with my fingers.
Q2. I assume your car has a 948/1098 engine with the early clutch slave? In which case the clutch pipe does a 90 degree at the bottom where the pedals are, it's then straight off the edge of the foot well to form 2.5 loops then straight down to the slave.

You can just see the coil under the plug leads.

Thanks Rob that is just the information I need . It’s a new cylinder and new pipes and fittings so hopefully should be relatively easy to fit the pipes then.

You can get flare-nut spanners like this one

Mike
The flare spanner Dave links to really is worth it. I connected up my new dual MC before I had one, using an open ended spanner which is awkward as you've found and it's easy to start rounding off the brass nuts.
