MG Midget and Sprite Technical - electric fuel pump

Hi, I would like to fit an electric fuel pump to my 1978 rubber bumper model midget can anyone advise the best position to fit a faset electric pump?

There are several Faset pumps--which one do you have--there are usually recomendations in the pack

I had a Facet Posiflow mounted in the engine bay, next to where the mechanical pump sits (makes plumbing easy and wiring easy). It worked great.

Hi
On the Facet brochure--
"Easy to Install-Easy to Service:Two bolt installation plus the small size makes installation easy. For best results, mount the pump close to the fluid or fuel tank and below the liquid level."
But
If Malc. has had his working fine at the front it sounds like they'll suck ok anyway
A friend has one mounted up high in the engine bay on his truck ,probably a metre above fuel level feeding a 5.8 litre v8 and that's ok as well

Yeah, it's not exactly strenuous being a fuel pump in a Midget!

It's a two meter hose run, tops, from the tank to the engine bay, it's only 6mm bore and it's not a lot of lift (if any) as the tank/boot floor etc. are higher than the floor of the rest of the car.

Just a word of warning, I had to move my Facet Silver top from the engine bay (mounted on the inner wing) to the 'normal' position by the offside rear wheel as I experienced considerable vapour lock and the poor pump was working overtime and the engine cut out in traffic when really hot. No problems with the new location.

The only time I had problems was at a Shelsley Walsh driving school day.

30 degrees ambient and running the car full chat up the hill (60 seconds or so), then parking up for 20 mins or so.

During (IIRC) the 5th run of the afternoon it conked out half way up the hill, but woke up again after I had coasted to a stop.
