MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Fuel Line

Further to my earlier post regarding fuel supply issues. I finally found the problem - a tiny split in the flexible hose part to the inlet side of the pump. When it moved, the crack/split opened up, allowing air in, thus not drawing up fuel.
My question is as I have removed, cleaned, refixed the rigid & flexible hoses within the engine bay. Can someone advise me how the rigid section that goes across the back - infront of the battery & heater is fixed. When I removed it it was sort of held in place attached to other things with cable ties. Can't find anything or pictures in the workshop manual or Haynes
It's 1977/1500

There are clips that hold the pipe to the flange of the cross-member and chassis leg. Part #135 here:

Slightly confusing, as the pipes seem to cross over twice.

I couldnt remember which side of the engine the fuel pump was on the 1500, so Ive had to google it.

The pipe from the tank to the pump will presumably follow the same route as on earlier models, which is what I think David was referring to, but then it has to cross back to the carbs, on the other side of the engine.

Unfortunately, Ive only had a couple of 1500s and never really did much in the engine bays, so cant remember which route it takes.

As far as I recall on the 1500 the fuel pipe follows much the same route as on the earlier cars, arriving at the fuel pump lower left of the engine. From the fuel pump it then goes up the footwell side and is then clipped to the leading edge of the battery / heater shelf as it crosses over to the carbs on the RH side.

That section of pipe is very close to the rear of the engine head and that is where fuel vapourisation is likely to occur, though maybe not at this time of the year! It is worth putting some sort of insulation or heat reflecting shield just across that bit of the pipe.

I hope you are keeping dry, Dave.

Yes, Guy. All good here, thank you.
