MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Halp identifying rare manifold.

Tonight I stumbled across a couple of choice bits, including this HIF44 manifold that will go straight under a spridet lid. It has a 15deg angle and is dimentionally very similar to a Spridget Titan.

Can anyone identify it, i've never seen another one.

Is it an Avonbar manifold?

Can you get a side on pic to show the relative heights of the Mounting for the Head and the Carb ?

(Its my personal theory that this is far more important than the the angle of the carb mounting)

taking the personal theory a bit further...Essentially if its a pain to get to the middle 2 manifold studs it will probably fit under the midget bonnet. The couple of manifolds I tried that didnt fit....all sat above those studs to the point you couldget a straight socket and extension on. The titan you cant.

Nick,

I'm not familiar with the Titan or other similar manifolds but it looks to me that much work has gone into cleaning and polishing that one above and beyond a normal production manifold so I would be wondering if it was a Titan or similar that had been prepped.

It isn't a Titan. Leastways, not like my Spridget Titan.

The plot thickens!

David you're quite correct, someone has spent a LOT of time porting and polishing this manifold, and I hadn't considered that it actually might be a titan in disguise - as the two look so different, (see upcoming pics) but now I've had a really close look, theres no reason why a titan couldn't be chopped at the water tube and made to be EXACTLY like this one. In fact, looking closely the castings underneath are so similar I think it is a Spridget Titan with MEGA work put in.

Well quite, Not like my Titan at all.
But then shown together like that I can see how the Titan could, with a LOT of work, be made to match your fancy shiny one! Even down to the exact position of the servo tapping.
