MG Midget and Sprite Technical - identifying side screens

hello, --I'm trying to identify some side screens I came across. The ones on my BI were never the correct type(rounded top front corner) but have served me OK for years. There are two basic styles in the pile I found. One has a thicker frame and the two channels are the same size. The other, which I think is the correct style, has one window channel only wide enough for the "glass" and the other/outer channel is wider,--maybe twice the size.I assume this is for the felt strip which goes on the inside surface,-right? If some say "weathershield" does this prove anything? This label is on the cockpit side of the frames. I had good luck cutting up some Lexan stock for the "glass". The bolts for the fittings are rusty,--wouldn't stainless steel/alum/brass be a better idea? It looks as if these frames were maybe anodised. Is that correct? If so, what is the best way to freshen them up?----Any help would surely be appreciated! Bob C in Kansas,USA

What is a BI ? and can you post some images?
Gary Lazarus

I think one is for the Sprite, and the other for the midget (with both panes sliding).

Without a picture, it is hard, but, there would be rubber on the slider, so, yes, in that effect, you are correct.

BI ... Bug Eye..?

maybe these are the 'Tall side screens' as used with the 'Warwick' supplied hard top...

Any pictures?

Mark.

Bob,
I have 3 sets of side screen.

one has got a rounded top front corner with large ruber all around. They came with an american midget MKI.
I suppose they are american repro.
I use them with the Ashley hardtop and fit well.

second has two identical chanels with all sliding perspex. They are from a GAN1 (948cc with alloy thin door capping)

third has got a large exterior chanel. They came from a GAN2 (1098cc with large door capping)

By saying BI I meant Bugeye. I guess it should be BE? Oh well! Sorry, I can't send pictures,--something new to learn in the future.Bob C
