MG Midget and Sprite Technical - impact of valve adjustment

I adjusted my valve lash for the first time this afternoon. I hope I did it right. I rolled the car until a valve was fully open (rocker side up high, valve side pushed down). I stood by the left wing and pushed and pulled and watched for the high spot. Then I set that valve's opposite (if 1 were open, I set 8, 3, I set 6 and so on). I set to .012 cold.
Some were quite a bit more than that, a couple were quite a bit tighter. Will I notice a difference?
Sure which I had that silly 3/4" cup seal for my brake master cylinder so I could drive it and find out!!!

Too tight may reduce power if the valves aren't fully on the seat at TDC (may also promote burning of seat/valve)...

You will probably find that all your gaps are slightly larger than the 12thou you've adjusted them to. Using standard feeler gauges doesn't take into account the wear on the rocker face. You need to use a thin gauge that is not wider than the valve stem. AS Anthony has already mentioned, it's better for the gaps to be too big than too small.

I just fired it up (can't road test, waiting for master cylinder cup seal, why are they so hard to come by?) sure sounds a TON better!
