MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Keys

Feeling a bit nervous only having one set of keys for the midget. What's the best way to get duplicates? Don't imagine the doors and boot will be much of a problem, just the usual Union FS series allbeit with a separate key for each lock. The ignition, though, is stamped "Neiman" with a serial number on the reverse. Is there anywhere I can have a key made based on the number or do I have to obtain a blank and have a locksmith make one to match the original?
As for the locking fuel cap which is stamped "Bezons France", don't suppose I will have any luck with that.
The car is a 1972 RWA BTW.

When I needed spares keys for my frogeye I just went down the local Morris Minor centre and told them the FS number and they picked the key from the appropriate bin as they already had them made. Mine was the Morris Minor spares centre in Bath which has sold up to East Sussex Minors so maybe they would have them.

Any GOOD locksmith should be able to help you.

As David did, I took took my Sprite keys to the local key company - Locsafe. They have managed to match a number of odd keys for me over the years. I can't remember if they were able to cut the Sprite keys just from the numbers or whether it was via their copying machine, but all of the keys worked fine.

If they are any good at their job and your fuel cap is unusual, they might need to do a bit of research to identify the blank but and they might have to order in in for you.

I doubt you'll get what you need from a key cutting/shoe repair franchise in your local supermarket but it might be worth a try if you're there anyway.

last key I needed cutting was done by Timpson's outside local Tesco supermarket. As Colin said, anything they can't do I use either of two good security / locksmith companies.

Timpsons. The one I go to in Glasgow will bend over backwards to find something that will work.

I think I got mine on eBay by quoting the FS number.

I bought at a stall at a classic car event, but should be plenty for sale on the net if you have the key number - eg at https://www.replacementkeys.co.uk/vehicle/classic-car?p=2 although have not used the company so cant give any recommendations
