MG Midget and Sprite Technical - MGB Brake Calipers

Has anyone out there fitted MGB calipers to a midget?
If so what discs did you use and how did you fit the
calipers to the hub?
Peter King

The MGB caliper big disc kit originated in the USA and when I spoke to Peter May about it, he produced the first kits in the UK. I think I had the first wire wheel kit ever made. Moss Europe had their own kit (not sure if they ever did have one for wire wheels) but it didn't use the MGB caliper (I was advised it used a single piston claw (?) caliper).

The MGB calipers bolt right up to the stub axle using the same bolt holes as the Sprite / Midget caliper. There is however, a bit more to it than that so either you are aware of that and aren't asking more questions or aren't aware and aren't.

The Spitfire disc is used but with an adaptor (which I can't recall ever establishing is specific to bolt on or wire wheels). Even then not all Spitfire discs are exactly the same as I once discovered before eating humble pie and buying one from Peter May.

While no-one ever thanks me for saying so, I'm about to anyway, and I guess even fewer people realise that writing a book is NOT a licence to print money and that the work just in buying, acquiring, testing, fitting and sometimes developing parts or kits is considerable, let alone photographing them (need a macro lens and sometimes a flash as well for good photos) and writing about it etc.

So, there are books with this stuff in them, though it seems the secondhand copies on Ebay have an asking price more than the current edition, despite it being the only current edition with wind tunnel photos and test data in it.

I'm not sure why no-one ever likes me saying this but perhaps they'd be kind enough to explain why.

As Daniel says useful info in: https://www.veloce.co.uk/store/The-MG-Midget-&-Austin-Healey-Sprite-High-Performance-Manual-p135968760

What options have you looked at so far to upgrade your braking, what problems do you wish to solve with your existing set up and what use is the car to be put? Short sprints/hillclimbs, longer circuit racing and stage rallying or road use?
