MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget / Frogeye pipe runs

Hi guys, anyone got any pics of brake and fuel pipe runs under the car. Also wiring loom

Many thanks

Hi Colin,

Can you be a bit more specific about what part of the runs you want to see? The fuel and brake pipes run either side of a ridged reinforcing section each side of the transmission tunnel secured by clips. The loom runs from the boot and then inbetween the inner and outer wing on the drivers side (at least on my 69) and along the sill. Others may have better descriptions and photos.
Daniel

Thanks Daniel, what it is, is a friend of mine ( who is useless at computers) is restoring a frog eye, and hasnt a clue where any of the pipes run, and I have only got MGB stuff.
So we want to see it all, and get it right first time please.

When did they change the routing of the brake pipe to inside the tunnel? Was this done on safety grounds?
David Smith

I'm not sure when it changed. I only recently discovered that early cars had the brake pipe under the floor.

This any good?

Thanks Rob, but no. Got that. We need much more accurate location of correct pipe runs.

Thanks

My 69 doesn't have any pipe runs inside the tunnel.
Daniel

Colin, this is a picture of the underside of my Frogeye before I stripped it. You can make out the fuel line and brake pipe runs adjacent to the chassis rail.

From the factory, my '65 Sprite had the brake pipe inside the tunnel, clipped to the side. And the fuel pipe under the car, along the right side floor stiffener, then across the front of the gearbox cross member, along the left side chassis leg and up to the carbs via a clip on the front of the left engine mount.

My '73 project Midget is exactly the same.

My Frogeye is the same. But the original routing in the engine bay will give your friends car vacuum lock.
