can i get away with 165 70 13s on 5J or 5.5J wheels

Brett - I've just posted relevant comment on the 5-1/2" Superlite thread.

Mine are 165 70 13 on 5.5J wheels. I had to fold the inner lip of the rear arches in (up) a little and they occassionally still just make contact on hard and laden cornering. I really need a Panhard. It will depend on the offset of the wheel as well though.

A mate of mine had/has 185/60 13 tyres on Jensen Healey wheels, 5.5J IIRC, and they rubbed even with jacked out arches but after fitting a Watts linkage no further rubbing.

mine is RWA so I don't get the arch problem, but with 185/60 x 13 Yokos on 5.5" Cosmics I see contact on the inner face with the leaf spring clips... not immediately obvious so do check carefully
