MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Newby update & last few questions?

Hio All,
Thanks to all who have helped me in the last couple of months- my midget mk III is booked for its MOT next week and hopefully will not ever be SORN'ed again!
( it spent 6-8 yrs in a agarage with its PO.)
Just in closing off some jobs, I noticed the throttle cable is really tight over the air intake hose _ I have checked with another ( spare cable I have & they are the same length ) I was always told if its taut its too tight so is there a longer throttle cable available anywhere?
I have read up the alternator conversion and its SEEMS straightforward...but can anyone recommend a complete alternator kit replacement - pulley etc ?
Cheers all

just had to change my acccelorator

new accelorator cables are very tight over trunking

the new ones that are usually supplied could do with being about 1" longer

usual cables are AHA5746 but Brown & Gammons do one AHA5746OE (T/CABLE MIDGET 1275 (OE) SPEC) that is a bit more expensive - I've not seen it to know if it's better but that would be the one I'd try next time

Colin,

Hello - re your accel cable.

I have bought the standard one and its as bad as my old one - very jerky and suddenly jumps when you put your foot down. There are 3 good options.

1. live with it and work some grease in it every now and again.
2. buy the spitfire cable which is 3 inch longer I think
3. buy some teflon bike cable and make your own.

I'm currently doing the first (but have bought the bike cable and will eventually get round to making my own)

The Spitfire cable thing won't work as this isn't a 1500.
I have been using a custom made cable for the last kilomile and it has been working well. It is made from teflon lined bicycle brake cable and some bits from the old one, so you can make it as long as you want!
