MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Oil change gearbox 1500

Anybody got any tips on changing the oil in the gearbox on a 1500, apart from 37 fingers and 3 arms !!

Its easier if you take the engine out first ?


The serious answer is that its not too bad. You need to undo the drain and filler plugs from underneath the car and fill from the engine bay via a tube.

To fill I used one of those pump action oil cans attached to a length of tubing.

Its a bit of a faff, but at least its not a job that needs doing too often.

Draining is easy. Filling is a bit of a fiddle, but I found to be easiest with a bit of tube and a funnel going up to the engine bay.
