MG Midget and Sprite Technical - PJM Motors in Market Drayton is closing down

Sadley another well know trader in the classic car world is cloosing down.

PJM motors in Market Drayton, closing of old age owner and apperently his daugther is not taking over/continuing.

To bad as I experienced them to be a very friendly and knowledgeable group of people to deal with.
They supplied and fitted my mohair top, tonneau, armrest and leather for my mgf seats.

Yvonne McPhillips was the first owner of the mgtf we now own, us being the second owner. I thought she had taken over running the business from her dad (Peter ?). I once bought a seat squab from PJM for my MGB. They have a very good reputation. Its a shame that another quality supplier has ceased trading.

A very long time ago I lived in Market Drayton. PJM ran an MG scrapyard and a friend bought my Sprite from them. Mr McPhillips (?) drove the Sprite to my friends lock-up garage with one wing held on by rope. Eventually the car became mine and the adventures began.

I met his daughter once at Silverstone and thought she was lovely lady (I think I was married by then). I'm sure she still is a lovely lady and I think a little older than me.

As far as I know, the building where PJM traded from long after I left Market Drayton was PD Stevens car body repair etc and Truck body building where I started and abandoned an apprenticeship when I left school at age 16.

I'm sorry I had forgotten Yvonne's name. I am 60 and I think she is older than me or at least about the same age.
Daniel

I'm 67 and I always thought of her as younger than me.

Agreed another great loss.

Met Yvonne at a car show and she sorted the entire interior for my rebuild - all colour options available - all made to order.

The items when delivered were of great quality and I have recommended them to many friends and on the BBS.

Hope they enjoy an earned retirement.

Time. Sadly, it waits for nothing and no one.

They made my upholstery and perfect from the original vinylde. It hardly wears out.

There's only going to be Moss left 😮

I am allways amazed at the number of businesses making restoration as opposed to consumeable parts. An example of the former would be major chassis parts and the latter engine internals. Surely by now the majority of midgets, Bs and Minors have been restored and the demand for major parts must be low.

Bill.
I wouldn’t bet on Moss. They have already closed the Stockport branch, which in my opinion had a bigger catchment area than the Bradford branch which is for now, still open.

I’ve just heard Kim Dear/Magic Midget is scaling back operations significantly as well. The website is no longer up and he is reducing the amount of stock he holds. He can still be contacted by phone/email though.
