MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Please help to ID engine

Hi all,
All I am trying to ID an a series engine that I bought in a job lot a long time ago. It is painted gold (maybe a gold seal engine?).

The numbers I can find on the engine are as follows:

950 in large numbers on the tappet cover side near the front of engine.

2A799 and below this is RMC 21D87-12 on the tappet cover side at the back of the engine.

If anyone can shed some light on what this engine is and what vehicle it is from, I would be very much appreciate it. I currently have a Morris Minor Pickup, MG midget and Moggy saloon, so am interested if it is worth keeping as a spare for later use.

Many thanks

Matt

it's 948cc so unless any of your stable are particularly early models and you want to keep them standard it's not really worth having; upgrades to 1098 or 1275cc seem preferred.
