MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Polyurethane engine mounts

Anyone tried Poly engine mounts? A bit steep at £73 a pair but cheaper new ones are really awful quality and don't work well.

Or take out 12 months membership with the A30 / A35 O.C. And be able to purchase a set of their engine mounts which, apparantly, are made for their members to the correct spec. It is one club that strives to source good parts for its membership.

Are new current stock really that bad then?

The ones I have were fitted about 2014 and seem to be have settled rather a lot to the extent that sleeping policemen are now a problem.
Looking on t'internet user experiences range from not fitting due to wrong dimensions, engine vibration due to wrong rubber and delamination due to poor adhesion. I haven't suffered any of these but, as I said above, seem to have squashed down by about 1/2".
I just wondered if the poly ones will be too harsh for road use given that they will probably outlast me!

Ah right. I haven't changed mine in years, I'd better keep them then.

Sounds a bit expensive to experiment wuth poly, in case you get a lot of vibration.

I just installed an engine into a Frogeye, and the mounts fitted perfectly. It's not yet been started, so I can't say anything about the hardness of the mounts.

I would guess that you will have more vibration going from the engine to the car chassis, steering wheel, gearbox lever, seats... for no real advantage on a road car, except long lasting material of course.

I did change mine on my "modern" MX5, not to poly but to harder rubber, and I can say I already miss the "soft" ones...Obviously, a different beast than the midget!
