MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear Wheel Arch Extension

Hi Guys

I have finally got the cosworth midget project rolling and the engine and box is now trial fitted in it, all is good so far but there are a few small issues to iron out

The main one is that the anglia axle is pushing the wheel approx 1 inch proud of the rear round wheel arches , i have thought about shortening the axle but for now decided against it , has anyone fitted rear wheel arch extensions to a round wheel arch midget ? and if so what did you uses ?

Thanks
Andy

you can probably roll the arches and gain 1 cm. Can you find the other 1.5 cm by fitting narrower tyres or ones with less sidewall protrusion? Or how about wheels with a different offset to move them inboard a tad?

I agree with David
The arches will roll out miles
I had an Anglia housing in mine with 8" rims and 205 tyres without a problem

I want to say the ford mezico or maybe the ford festiva wheel arches are a good fit for the midget

Remember you have to add structural strength back into the arch when you cut oout the square arches or it will collapse the arch

Anglia axle going in my K this winter I'll be shorting axle rather than going the wheel arch route. my get a response on the Twin cam 16v K ser - Midgets and B's section, all thou most us Facebook

Is this a problem for SWA cars only?
I thought an Anglia axle would fit comfortably under a Midget.
I'm hoping to find a 105E axle before I finish my Konversion but if it needs to be cut down, I might as well look for an escort axle - their much easier to find and cheaper...

I can't see the problem with an Anglia housing
Relocate the spring sadles and in they go

What width / offset wheels have you got on there
If they poke out too far you must be having bother with the front as well -----???
