MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Shocks, should I leave well enough alone?
Well my midgets on the road and looking pretty so I'm looking for way to mess this up. Should I check the shock oil? I don't have any leaks, but haven't done anything with them since the rebuild.

if they need topped off use motor cycle forkoil I found useing a wall paper paste sringe (looks like a medical sringe with a big ass needle) worked great for topping off prop

Of course you should check the oil. It is always possible that it is not leaking because there is nothing in there to leak out. David "mr cheerful" Lieb

OK, part two...I know how you should top them off. Is there a way to remove the old fluid?

JUst do as I do, just let it leak out....LOL just kidding...good question!!! after several minutes of thought I have a few ideas...but not sure....need smarter brain then mine, Im afraid. prop

I don not know of any way of accomplishing this without removing the shock from the car. David "useless" Lieb

Hey David, Thats kind of my thinking as well.... I know it would be a god awful mess...but what about 150psi of compressed air....sort of like cleaning out the brake calipers.... But by the time you get all the mess cleaned up....you would probably be 6 hours ahead by just taking them off and cleaning them out that way.... prop

er, but why do you want to empty them? does hydraulic fluid wear out? I don't think so...
