MG Midget and Sprite Technical - sound damping hardtop

What sound damping material can you advice for the inside of my hardtop?

Easy...

Try Woollies Trim. They are a really good company and will be able to supply you with the soundproofing material and also some headlining material to make it look nice.

Lovely looking car, Flip.

Agreed, nice Frog.

My Parrish top is lined with thick grey felt, which seems to work pretty well.

But as you well know, your car's never going to be "quiet" with a hardtop! It merely closes in a lot of noise. What it DOES remove, though, is the wind buffet noise you get with a softtop, and (in my case, anyway), it cures any drafts.

Dynamat is great stuff, but not the cheapest:

Drafts are the main thing keeping the condensation at bay when it's raining!

I had my hard top professionally sprayed with that rhino truck bed liner stuff...it tured out realy nice, Ill see if I can post some pics tomarrow. I had both the inside and the outside done

I wouldnt use the DIY stuff. go to a pro, it looks much nicer, No mess (which is really nasty stuff) and its not vary expensive ... about $75 is what I paid to ghave mine done.

Under my carpet, I used 1/8" sound deadening cork, as used by ceramic tile setters. It's easy to handle and cut.
I applied it with spray-on contact cement and it has held up well.
Some advantages are; ease of use, low cost, specifically made to deaden sound, and it provides a nice clean smooth surface to apply headliner or carpet onto.
