MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Spitfire rotor / MGB caliper brakes mod

As per title,

I am rebuilding my 'front end' as std but intend to have /make the MGB caliper / Spitfire rotor conversion as well - for a future 'back to back' test.

I purchased my new std midget rotors from the MG place in Dudley (M5 J2) today and asked to look at a pair of Spitfire rotors at the same time.

The PCD for the disc mountings (not the wheel mountings) is slightly different to the Midget disc, having done a quick archive search Brad has already mentioned this difference.

What In cannot find is whether the 'solution' was to modify the PCD of the Spitfire rotors or is the aluminium spacer that is used used to 'accomodate' this difference, just wondered what people have done.

Cheers

Spencer,
i drilled & tapped the discs for the same PCD as the hub.
Speak to Shaun about it, he's doing a run of them,

Brad,

I see, so you have plain through holes in the spacer and then drill and tapped the Spitfire rotor (At 90 degrees to the original holes in the rotors I guess?)

Having looked at the Minimania spacer it looks like their spacer is threaded and and both the disc and the hub bolt to it.

Sorry one other question, the spacer you made, you sent me a couple of drawings, one with imperial dimensions and the other metric, the imperial one shows a spacer 'thickness' of 1" 3/8' (34.9 mm) and the metric one shows it as 32 mm thick.

Any idea which thickness you used in the end?

Spencer,
you guess right, i tapped the discs, but also used locking nuts.
Use the imperial mesurements.
Shaun is doing a run of spacers, so you might want to drop him an email, otherwise email me & i'll put you in touch,

cheers

Also can someone confirm the brake master cylinder bore size on a RWA Midget?

Is it 3/4"

Cheers

Sorry another 'also' has anyone altered the brake bias as a result of a 9" brake upgrade or is the bias still OK?

Cheers

I've got one of these, haven't fitted it yet.

US spec RWA Midget master cylinder bore size is 3/4" according to the parts manuals for the rebuild kits. I just had this information checked a couple of weeks ago as I'm considering a brake upgrade as well on my Midget.
