MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Timing cover replacement problems

Hi all ,

ive just replace the timing chain on my midget 1500 . I'm having a problem replacing the timing cover .

How do i get the tensioner to locate infront of the chain while replacing cover ?

your help and advise would be appreciated

The trick is to hold the tensioner back with your thumb, offer up the timing cover and sort of slide it into place in a sideways sense - ie get the tensioner held back by pushing the cover sideways against the chain.
