I have a snap-on timing light for sale... usual email! p.s. looked all over to come and meet you yesterday, but you were just so busy all day - you must be knackered. Fab day mate, really fab. |

I have a gunson with variable timing, about £40 or under. Very pleased with it. Steve PS. Really good day. Congratulations to you and the rest of the organisers. Shame about the cr*p weather on the way home. Steve |

Jeremy, Current issue (June) of Practical Classics has a test of various timing lights ranging from an under £15 Heshi to nearly £400 Snap-On. "Best buy" is a Seeley TL93 at £123.32(!) and best budget buy is the aforementioned Heshi CP-7504, but this is pretty basic with no option to vary the advance. I still use an old basic light from my Dad from the 1970s. Only a basic jobby and the light output is a bit low (just connect between the HT lead and sparkplug) but still gets the job done if you paint the timing marks white with Tippex or the like. By the way, well done for Spridget 50. Fantastic day and I found one of the best driving roads I've been on in a long time being the B4455 Foss Way between the A5 and Gaydon. Followed a Healy 3000 on the way there and kept company with a couple of Frogeyes for part of the way back. Superb! Chris |

I have use of a Snap on lamp, does everything you need it to do, although extortionately expensive when bought new. If you can buy a second hand one for about 40/60 squids then get one. anymore than that and it maybe better to buy a budget one with variable control. |
