MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Ultra Glaco Rain Repellent

Ultra Glaco Rain Repellent

This subject is for Dave O'Neill, and others.

A year ago I was bought some Ultra Glaco Rain Repellent (and the softest microfibre towel I've seen) so I've tried it out over a year.

I can't say I think much of it, I used the same technique to apply as I had with Rain-X and the Halfords Rain Repellent. I started with cleaning off any residue of other applications by using (Halfords) glass cutter polish on the windscreen to clean it.

I don't think the Ultra Glaco worked as well or lasted as long on the windscreen as either the Halfords or Rain-X.

Just my experience and totally unscientific.

This is what we used to use at work, works well and lasts a long time on the midget - and the bottle I've got is 20 years old!

Not sure if it's easily available over here though.

John

Do you mean Ultra Glaco, or something else?

With the interest in Detailing and Drifting getting Ultra Glaco or most Japanese stuff in the UK is now quite easy.

I was given the Ultra Glaco and the lovely microfibre towel as present as I'd mentioned the stuff to a mate with motorbikes and a Jap car, I still had, and have, lots of the Halford's Rain Repellant left.

The Halfords to me seems better than, and lasts longer than, the Ultra Glaco. I can't remember if Rain-X (not the quick squirt spray bottle but the gravity pour bottle) is better than Halfords as it's been so long since I've Rain-X.

As I've put before I don't find the rain repellents work very well on the upright Spridget windscreens to repel the rain but it makes cleaning the glass easier with, very diluted, windscreen wash.

I'm almost run out of my bottle of Rain-X rejuvenator, I must have had that for years even perhaps close to decades. The modern version is much, much more diluted. I'll put up a thread just before it runs out.
