MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Vacuum line help

A local acquaintance call me today for some help setting up his carburetor on his 1979 MG midget. I overhauled the carb for him two years ago. He finally got the car back on the road. The first Item is a vacuum line that hooks to the metal tube(with the inline chamber) that go to the distributor. We could not find the port for the vacuum. There also is a second hookup that is also missing along with a spare line. Here are is a photos.

Thanks for any help.

Second Photo Of the Line

Hi, Gary -

Working from memory, starting at the carb vacuum port... as you've noticed, the large vacuum hose connects to a steel T-pipe. One end of that goes to the fitting on the rocker cover, and the other runs down to the front charcoal canister.

There's also a smaller vacuum line; this one plugs into the port on the carb, then splits. One end of that goes to the distributor vacuum retard fitting, while the other connects to the EGR valve actuator port.

Hope this helps!

looking for something else and came to this John Twist video wondered if it might help - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jS19fdQDW4&list=UU40j4KqUJPMVv4FQ29ro-xQ&index=4&feature=plcp

Hi
The Video did not show the smaller lines. Would someone be able to take a few photos of the line for me. I think it must be of a 1979.

Thanks Gary

Gary -

See the picture below, which I scanned from the factory manual for the Midget 1500. The main vacuum hose partially obscures the smaller one, but this may help with setup.

And here's a close-up, with color. The blue pipes are the PCV lines, and the green are the vacuum controls for the EGR valve and distributor retard.

Cheers,

Thanks For the pictures. I think we now know how to install the lines.
