MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Weber 32/36 - second circuit not opening
Hi, all. Long time, no post. But the midget and I are still very much alive.
A good while back, I switched from the US-spec Zenith carb to a Weber 32/36, mainly as an experiment. While tinkering with it this morning, I noticed that the stock pedal/cable setup doesn’t pull far enough to bring in the second circuit. So for a year or two, I’ve only been using half the carb. I find this funny, but not humorous. Have any of you run into this issue? I thought of modding the pedal assembly to provide more travel, but the pedal doesn’t press to the floor as-is, so there’s no point in messing with that bit. Thanks in advance, -:G:- |

Can you post a picture of the cable connection to the weber? I had a similar problem with a 28/36 on my Capri. I altered the cam on the weber. Sounds like the cam is vertical before the 2nd stage is opened properly. So yeah, pedal won't make a difference. |

Well, I appear to have fixed it, or at least improved things. Turns out the cable attach point on the provided bracket was too high. I created another attach point toward the bottom of the bracket, the result being that the cable can now pull the throttle arm around to its full extent. I just took it for a run, and acceleration is nice and lusty. -:G:- ![]() |

A quick fix is always good news. Now you can use petrol faster. Lol. |

Hi, Mike! Yes, I’ve neglected the BBS for far too long. It’s nice to be back! -:G:- |

Welcome back Gryf. It looks like the BBS is only being kept afloat by the Midget/Sprite and T-Types. |
