MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Weber help

Just finally getting round plumbing in my weber can somebody confirm which inlet is fuel as there are two inlets and also do I need to run the vac advance from the dizzy or block it up thanks in advance pic attached.
C Carter

no pic!
David Smith

Yes - the pic is missing, and you don't say which type of Weber it is.
P Dodd

Chris, if you want to call round we have a car here with a weber on it you can look at for reference.

Sorry here is a pic my carb is a DGV with manual choke but found this pic online to help. Cant get my pics off my iphone as having issues with itunes! Where abouts are you Andrew?

C Carter

Near Holmfirth Chris.

Though I don't think I can help now as our's are all DCOE's.

Your welcome to call round anytime although the garage is a little bit empty at the moment with the recent mishap!

C Carter,

IIRC that style of carb often had 2 fuel connections but one is in and one out. This allows for a small flow of fuel back to the tank to help maintain a more constant fuel temperature at the carb. The return may be smaller and careful inspection may reveal a restriction internally. Are there no markings on the carb body near the fuel connections.
David Billington

The small one had been blocked by a bit of fuel pipe with a cap on the end so presume that is the return. Does this carb not use a Vaccum advance?
C Carter

What happened Andrew?
C Carter

Chris, it's been covered in the other thread.

Nuff said really!

I've had them on cars and they do have a vaccum port. I thought the ? was it.
Greg H

Yes - pretty sure that (the ?) is a vacuum port.

Not sure about the fuel return, but the DGV's have an (optional) vapour vent that's just below the filter half way between your fuel inlet and the vacuum on that photo.
P Dodd

Hmmm well either way I think I am safe with the fuel line which is the main thing. The vacuum/ ? pipe seems of larger diameter than the standard vacuum line currently on my midget?

Yep just read it all now Andrew glad to here you are ok.
C Carter

The Question Mark in your pic is pointing to the vacuum port at the primary butterfly. My 1500 with DGV runs better with than without the vac advance. The one marked "FUEL" is fuel in. The brass nut just to the right and below your fuel inlet is the filter screen housing.
