MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Wheel nuts?
Hi all, Can anyone tell me if there is any problem with using Mini alloy wheel nuts with a chamfered seat on midget alloys? They are listed as suitable for all alloys other than Minilite originals. I currently have minilight copies. I have attached a picture of the mini nuts. Thanks Kevin ![]()

I used them with Minators. I had to use a 17mm socket, though.

I wouldn't use tapered nuts on non-tapered alloys even if they did fit in the hole. The correct nuts centre the wheel and provide a larger clamping area.

Thanks guys, I should have said that my alloys have a tapered hole which the nuts fit nicely. Cheers Kevin

I always understood that the angle of the taper was different for mini and midget wheels - so the nuts were not interchangable.

Chris, that depends on whether you are using original steel wheels or alloys. The Mk1, 2 & 3 Midget with 'original' style pressed steel wheels had a different seat angle to Rostyle wheels. Nuts are NOT interchangeable. Minators have the same seat angle for Midgets and Minis AFAIK.
