MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Which indicator lights to use?

I'm converting from RB to CB on my '79 midget and was wondering what type of indicator/trafficator/blinker lights to use to fill the very large hole sitting in the front of the guard.
I've heard that a chrome bumper MGB set will fit nicely, or do I go for an earlier model Midget set and fill the hole with metal?
I know I can buy an earlier set of guards, but cost becomes a problem going down that path. As well as hard to find.

have a look in the Archives this has been covered before - one solution I remember(?) is to put the orange indicator unit in there

I did try searching through the forum before posting, but couldn't find anything. Sensible searches like "conversion", "rubber bumper", "chrome bumper", "indicator", etc turned up nothing.

Not sure what search terms to use.

It is difficult to use the archive search. You either can't find the particular item you want, or you get a lot of what seems to be irrelevant stuff.

I think the C/B MGB lamp is a similar size to the C/B Midget lamp, so won't fill the hole.

some seem to have mastered the black art of the Archieves but not me

the details could be under a different thread heading but the last one can only go back a few weeks otherwise I wouldn't remember it

it did have a few ideas and photos and I think a photo of the 1500 indictor sitting in that hole

The best solution that I have seen (without cutting, welding etc) is to put MGB indicators in, there is someone on this forum (can't remember who, the car was a red 1500) who did, and it looked very good. The standard 1500 indicators can be made to fit with penny washers but always look a bit tacked on -to me anyway.
My car has 1275 wings, although with these you will probably want to lower the front end with shorter springs.

When searching for stuff on the archive start with a fairly long sentance eg; "rubber bumper to chrome conversion". Put that in on the "this phrase" option, this should ensure that all results are quite relevant. If you can't find what you want use the "search for all of these words" option, this will give you more results on top of the previous set, they may well be less relevant though.
The archive is notoriously awful and it may take a couple of rewordings before you find what you want.

"MGB indicators" in the general archive =

Don't know how well it seals though.

I take it all back, although the hole looks bigger than the lamp. Optical illusion?

Thanks everyone. That is what I was looking for BH, although I must have a "dead typing finger" because I tried the same search as you suggested and only came up with this thread.

You must have a magic touch.
