MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT-T Sat Nav Chattering ?!?
I've a ZT-T 190+ first registered Nov-02. Since buying this ex-MG Staff Car from my local dealership, I've had continuous problems with the SAT NAV CD chattering in the rear wheel arch. The dealership confirms there is a known problem of the CD ejecting at low temperatures. Anyone else having this problem, as me in the summer months, despite having a recent s/w upgrade? It very frustrating when you get the re-insert CD message when you are driving down the Motorway and need directions !! |

We have had the Sat Nav in the 75 for two and a half years. It is a VDO unit. We have the same unit from the same manufacturer in the F for the last 5 years. Both have worked fine and only spit out the CD out when you press the button! Get the CD Unit replaced under warranty! Cheers Patrick |

Send it back before the warranty expires! I can well sympathise with your reluctance to visit a dealership, mind. |

The head unit is being replaced in my 03 ZT-T today. I have experienced the same problems - CD being ejected or not getting read in cold weather. A few weeks ago the system knew where I was on the map but didn't know which direction I was going in (not much use g=for directions :-) ) My Dealer took a look and ordered a new head unit under warranty. He mentioned that they have had a few problems like this. I would go see your dealer and ask for a new head unit. My ztt is also having a new clutch plate fitted to cure the occasional squeal when pulling away. |
