MG MGA - 1500 tach drive cable question

I just bought at mechanical tach cable for my 1500. It fits on the tach end, but the collar is too small on the engine end. The Moss catalog shows only one part part number for these cables. Was there more than one, or was I sold the wrong thing maybe, like a speedo cable instead of a tach cable?

I believe the ends for both the tach and the speedo are the same. That is large at the engine and tranny end and small at the guage end. Maybe they did send you the wrong one.
