MG MGA - Addco Anti-Sway Bar

Has anyone installed an Addco #111 anti-sway bar on their MGA? If so, how well do you like the product and where did you buy it? Did you get rubber or urethene bushings?
Frank Nocera

Frank.
I am also looking into an Addco swaybar. I would recomend the urethane bushings. Adding a "U" to the end of the part number will get you urethane bushings.
I have heard JC Whitney will special order one. I checked there web site and they do handle Addco. I sent them an E-mail and they said they can not get one for me. I know NAPA handles Addco. I am waiting on a return E-mail from them. I am also waiting for an E-mail back from E&A performance. They show them on their web site, www.swaybars.com but no price.
If I don't hear from E&A in the next few days, I'll
give them a call. (1-866-201-7599)
If I come up with something I'll let you know.

Perhaps you might just contact them direct for a dealer:

Great minds think alike. I too have checked out NAPA and JC Whitney, hearing from both that they cannot order one for me. I have also gone to the Addco web site and emailed them to ask if there is a retailer near where I live, or if they can just sell me one.

About the urethene bushings:
Yes, I was aware of them, but was concerned that the their standard 3/4" sway bar would be too stiff as it is. I wish they offered a 5/16" bar. Thought I would go with the rubber bushings and then upgrade to urethene if I thought it needed to be more stiff.

Does anyone out there have an Addco anti-sway bar on their A? If so, did you get the rubber or urethene bushings and how well do you like the product?

I have the Addco sway bar, I ordered mine through NAPA, under what they called the balcamp program, Addco had told me to contact them. They only make the urethane now, I don't find it stiff. It imporved the driving, I did the front suspension at the same time so hard to tell how much of the benefit was from which improvements. I have a few pictures on the web at this address:

Barney Gaylord's site has some information too.

Thanks, RW, for the input and link. It was from your web pages that I first learned about the Addco anti-sway bar. It appears to be a much easier installation than the re-engineering /cutting/ welding process needed for the Moss product. This morning I again talked to my local NAPA Auto Parts store, asked about Balcamp, and they are unwilling to even try to order it. Grrrrr. Next step is to contact the regional NAPA warehouse in Jacksonville.

I have an Addco for sale as I put on an original anti-sway bar. If interested let me know. Should be 40% off list price.

I talked with E&A Performance today. I placed an order for a Addco 3/4" bar with urethane bushings. They gave me a price of $135 plus $13 for shipping. I should see it in a week and a half, as it has to go out for plating first. I will let you know what I think.

I have installed the Addco anti sway bar from E&a performance on my 60 Mga, And running with radial tires it stays in the turns like glue. You would be hard pressed to find a better company to do business with than E& A performance. I had a small problem with one end link bolt ,two times and both times I received a new bolt at no cost even after a year went by.I think the bolts supplied are just too short and could not get enough thread into the faster nut,I asked for a longer bolt and that solved the problem.

Just to close out this thread, I could not get E & A to answer their phone, so this morning I ended up calling Addco directly (800-338-7015), thinking I would get the name of another retailer. I talked to Shelly, who after hearing my experience with NAPA, etc., immediately allowed me to order one directly from the factory for $135 and $15 shipping. All together, it took less than five minutes. Ordering from the factory is no problem. Shoulda done that last week.

I installed addco anti-sway bars, front and rear, during the restoration of our '60 mga about twelve years ago. I've been happy with the performance, tho I'd never drivin an MGA before so couldn't really compare. About five years ago, I removed the axle to install 3.9 ring and pinion, and for no particular reason, reinstalled the axle without the anti-sway bar. Performance seems to be about the same. Marv.
