MG MGA - Another option for noise reduction

There have been several discussions about how to reduce noise in our Bs and As, and while searching for info on something else, I did turn up this interesting PDF file and info ~ http://www.quietsolution.com/QCar_dsheet_scn . I thought it might be of interest to some of you.

Also at the same site is this demo, http://www.quietcar.net/ for those who would like a graphic (audible) demonstration FYI

Most of the noise on my car comes from the exhaust (which is LOUD). engine noise and gear noise is not too bad.

Any suggestions (I am thinking the baffles in the Falcon have gone again)?

Open cars always present a greater challenge ~ wind noise and exhaust. Passenger cars of today have pretty well dealt with the exhaust noise, but cars like ours haven't been updated in this regard. Performance exhausts generally follow the same pattern for performance as they did 40 yrs ago.

Wind noise for an MGA roadster is just a given, I am afraid. A characteristic of its times and the measures chosen long ago for air movement and so-called isolation introduced by a rag top and side curtains. A coupe might benefit from this sort of treatment but I think the benefits to roadster, noise-wise, would be minimal at best. Besides, aren't road, wind, engine, and exhaust noises what most folks equate with our old-school sportscars anyway? ;-)

I love the noise in the car. It means I can't hear the wife nattering away!

My original intention was to cut back on the amount of heat coming from the exhaust and gearbox thru the tunnel and floor. I installed "dynamat" on the floors adn tunnel. Cheap and very effective. To my surprise, it also reduced the cockpit noise in a significant manner. Killed two birds with one stone. I want to keep the sound that is left, that's part of the motoring experience.
