MG MGA - Battery problems
Help. I replaced my MGA batteries with 2 new NAPA 5019L's (the same as those in before). The new batteries are charged up and I've hooked them in just as those I removed. Passenger side black wire to POS, red wire to NEG. The red wire runs between the two batteries. Drivers side black wire to NEG and red wire to POS. Both batteries light up my tester. When I turn the key nothing happens. No sound from the fuel pump, nothing. What is going on? |

Assuming you are positive earth, the black cable that runs the length of the car from the starter switch attaches to the negative terminal of a battery. The positive terminal of that battery should attach to the negative of the other battery and the positive of the second battery attaches to earth. Steve |

It turns out that NAPA sold me a battery that did not have any acid/water in it. Then they filled it with water alone so it won't take a charge. Now they promise me another one on Monday. You gotta watch parts stores. As President Reagan said, "Trust but verify." On Monday, they'll have to make the meter jump before I'm walking out. |
