MG MGA - Brake booster/servo kits
Has anyone fitted one of the Moss UK servo kits (Part#TT3949)? Do these go behind the front fender, or where do they fit? If anyone knows of any other servo kits available, please advise. |

I fitted a servo from Brit Vic here in the US. It is mounted in my right front fender near the 4 way brake union. I used bulk head fittings to go to the inside of the fender so the unit can be removed later when needed. I drilled the back of the intake manifold for the vacuum. This can be reversed later if you want. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any other information.. Also look in the archive here. I beleive I wrote about this before. |

Gary, I did the same as Jeff to my MKII. (probably got the idea from his earlier post) If you place the bulkhead fittings in the inner fender, right at the heater shelf you can hardly tell the booster is in there as the only thing you can see is the extra vacume line. brakes work great. |

Okay, I'm intrigued. I wouldn't buy one, but this sounds like good material for my web site. Do you guys have any pictures of the installation in the MGA? Barney |

Sorry Barney, no pics. Would have to open up the inner fender to take some now. Really, the hardest part is making a bracket to mount the servo that I bolted in using two longer bolts where the body attaches to the goalpost side. It needs to be mounted farly rigid so as to keep vibrations to a minimum. A couple coils in the brake lines are a good idea as well. If I should need to go in there I will certainly send you fotos. I had a booster fitted under the dash on the passanger side, and you wouldn't know it was there. Can send pics to anyone who is interested. Vacuum is taken from the rear stud of the inlet manifold and vacuum hose shares the wiper cable grommet hole. Only "damage" to the car was a small hole in the fire wall near the steering to take the return brake line. |
