MG MGA - Carburettor ID Tag

Hi,

Last weekend during a drive, I've lost the cap nut, the washer, the overflow pipe, the carb. id tag and a gasket of the rear carburettor. I've bought all parts except the carb ID tag (AUC 943) which was not available (Anglo Parts) anymore. I've checked the Moss website, the tag was mentioned on their cataloque, but not available when I wanted to order it. Does anyone know where I could find one ?

I don't know for a fact that he has tham, but I'd imagine that if anybody did, it would be Todd Clarke at Clarke Spares http://www.clarkespares.com/carparts.html
He makes a lot of MGA parts that are unavailable anywhere else, and is very helpful.

If Clark doesn't have the tag, or if you would like to try some place a bit closer to home, try Burlen Fuel Systems at: http://www.burlen.co.uk/. You may have to send them an e-mail to get the part number for the tag you are looking for, but I know that they have them. Good luck - Dave

Hi,

Thanks for your info. I will ask both if they have the tag. I have another question : the overflow pipes on my car are about 10 cm long, the new one I bought yesterday is about 80 cm long and Anglo Parts told me that both have to be that long and are held together at the bottom with a clip somewhere between the two carbs so no fuel can leak on the exhaust or somewhere else where it can be dangerous or can damage something. I've been looking in the "Original MGA" to see how it is done, but there is no picture of it. Has somebody a picture where I can see how they are installed ?

Thanks,

Koen

Koen,

Both pipes meet at the rear nut holding the blanking plate over the hole where a mechanical fuel pump would go.
This nut holds a clip which locates both pipes. The pipes then continue down to the area of the joint between the block and sump.
I have put a photo at:

http://www.angelfire.com/amiga/mga/index.html

The pipe for the rear SU can finish at the same point as the front pipe, not slightly shorter as in the photo.

Todd Clarke's mailing (which came in yesterday's post) says that he has these as a new product, so your timing is perfect
