MG MGA - Celebration & Buttonwillow

First celebrate with me. Almost 2 years ago it went down when the engine went. Since I eventually had the needed body work and paint done, had a warmed up 18V built had installed a 5-speed and a little suspension work. Its a '57 wirewheel roadster I found in an L.A. ally 25 years ago. Actually there were two. Bought em both for $300. Sold the one with the most rust and no engine for $250. The one I kept had burned under the tree where it sat five years earlier, and it loooked like it sounds. Long story, but I must tell you it looks great now. It's painted in a combination used on a few '55 Porshe Speedsters. The color is Ferret, a deeper Alamo Biege if you will. The interier is "Saddle" and the top and canvas is Rootbeer. You'll love it, or hate it, I'm happy with it. There are still bugs to work out, including still too much heat, some electrical and lighting issues, but were getting close. I didn't have enought time or skill to do the majors and I envy you who do. I learned alot right here and appreciate a lot of help given, often unknowingly.

Im planning on the May 13 & 14 Moss/VARA British Extravaganza and Buttonwillow. If anyone else is going, let us know. Steve

Congrats on the project! It must be a great feeling to finally be done with it.

I plan to attend the event so keep in touch. Maybe we can caravan up there. :)

Congratulations !

Look forward to seeing it at Buttonwillow.

Our club will be going through Tehachapi round about friday mid-day.

My webers came in 5 weeks late so I'm in scramble mode right now. They are on and base tuned with an O2 sensor to midrange. I'm still hoping to get it on the dyno at APT prior to buttonwillow.

See you guys there

Driving the Mojave Desert instead of I-5?
Steve Simmons

It's quicker for us since we're based up here. The road along the north side of the mountains is a good drive, tehachapi is a nice break and coming down out of thp into the valley is a nice drive too.

We'll see you guys there, look for the red 57 roadster with (weather permitting) the comp windscreen.

Drive safe

Oh, I forgot you guys are up that way. The So Cal club is leaving from Sylmar and I would assume taking the I-5. See you there!

PS... The wife and I will be in an OEW '58 MGA Roadster.
Steve Simmons

Steve, I just, finaly, sent in my application to So.Cal. M.G. Club. How many are leaving from Sylmar, and what time? I know Rand Smith and a few othere are going up friday from the O.C. and hopefully Jeff Becker, but I don't yet know their point or time of departure. We are staying at the Buttonwillow Motel-6.

Tom, where are you driving from?

How about you guys in the Bay Area? Buttonwillow is definitely within striking-range.

P.S. I know there is a ton of guys still getting there cars together. I offer you a word and a prayer of encouragment that your rolling soon!

Info on the SCMGC caravan can be found here: http://www.scmgc.org/buttonwillowinfo.htm

I think it would be great if we got as many cars as possible in the caravan whether or not they are with the So Cal club.
Steve Simmons

Hey Meline,
'So glad I got to see your car. Big congrats, way to go; it looks great! I'd make up some manlier names for the colors, though.
God bless, P. B.
