MG MGA - Convex Dash Mirror
Gentlemen and, perhaps, Ladies, I am in posession of a convex dash mirror that I removed from a 1960 MGA about 35 years ago. It has the standard mounting stem but the mirror is convex and about twice as long as a standard flat mirror. It also does not have the full frame, just a tab type frame. I think it gives a much better view and am planning to use it in my coupe. I asked Cecilia Bruce if she thought this was some type of optional mirror, but she said she'd never heard of it. I'm just curious. Do any of the rest of you have one or happen to know where it might have come from? Regards, Gerry

I've always thought a mirror of that general discription would be an improvment. Hope somebody comes up with something. Steve

| Have a look at www.vintagemotorspares.com - go to interior mirrors (accessories) and see no 669. I have a convex mirror in my coupe, and would not be without it . I bought it at an auto jumble, I think it was from Tim Hotchkiss who runs this company. It's design however is more like the one wher the mirror is held by clips. Its size is 5 1/2 in x 2 in so the larger one should give even more rearward coverage. You do not need a wing mirror on the passenger side if you use a wide convex mirror and apart from seeing youself all the time the view on the drivers side is good too, although I do use a bullet type convex mirror mounted to the drivers door. | Thanks for the URL...hmm I once saw an MGA at a rally with a day/night prism mirror that looked original (same size and goldtone color but thicker glass). I sure could use one of these since now I put my hat over my mirror at night to prevent getting blinded by SUV and truck headlights... |

I bought a relatively inexpensive convex mirror that glues onto the inside corner of the windshield. I got it from Griots.

More questions about mirrors. When MGA's were new there was an aftermarket rear view mirror which clip to the upper windsheild frame on a roadster. This worked much beter than the stock mirror. Has anyone seen or have one? Bill.
