MG MGA - Coupes all?
It seems that we are getting an increasing amount of coupe traffic. Who all owns a coupe? I have 3, all needing work before they see the road.

I have one '57, with a transplanted 1600 engine. It's black (originally OEW) with black interior, soon to be converted to red interior. Its a nice driver with many original parts remaining - probably an older, rolling restoration. Turns lots of heads and drives beautifully. I'll be replacing the engine soon with a rebuilt 1600 with a ported head and lightened flywheel. Regards, M.D.

BTW, Mine are a 1960 1600, originally black with wire wheels, a 1957, originally Tyrolean green, and a 1957, originally red I think.

I have a 57 1500 Coupe, island green (like a big easter egg), with black seats (green piping). Currently under full restoration, 1.5 years into it and closing fast. The chassis is finished and the engine (1800) is almost in. Major bodywork is already finished so it's block sanding, paint, and interior next. Cheers
Craig Cootsona
Wyatt, Is that all you have? :) I have to get out and see you again. Maybe this summer I can stop by.

I'm working on a 1960 MK I coupe. The frame work is nearly completed, less rear suspension, and I'm about half way finished the engine. Mine was originally black over red but I'm seriously considering changing the body color to Dove Grey. The body needs the most attention so it will be some time before I have to make my mind up regarding finish color.

1957 being restored, the pedigree of this car is very disputable and was a borderline parts car. When finished it will have 1800 3 main with 3 sync OD. MGB front suspension and brakes and a salsbury rear from an MGB also.

1960 1600 Mk.1 Ch. No. GHD/89832 chariod red with black interior piped red. As yet still standard with 4 speed gearbox & original diff {pumpkin?] which may receive some modifications in line with those I have noted on this BB - mainly thinking of a 5 speed gearbox.

32 posts, and only 3 from the U.K. Does this mean all the existing cars are overseas, or that we can't use computers.

Just biding our time. 59 1500 deep burgundy colour (original was OEW). My first FHC (in 1973) was a 59 in Glacier Blue.

Nigel- Could it mean that we are over here sitting at our pc's while the UK is out driving their coupe's?
gary starr
Gary, You may be correct. I have 3, and none run. If one did, I would be driving it. 65Degrees and sunny. Beautiful day for a drive.
mike parker
Nigel I've spoken to quite a few MG owners, they don't even know this site exists. There are quite a few Coupe's in the UK, how many, I don't know. Somebody should start a register. Terry

1959 1600cc OEW exterior black interior. Purchased for restoration early 2005. Glad they made coupes. I love the MGA look. Always thought the convertibles seemed like they were missing something with the top down and didn't look quite right with the top up. Hard top gives strength to the body and should be less rattle....no? Also actually cooler in the broiling hot sun on a 95 degree day!
