MG MGA - Deluxe Seats from MGB Seats?
I'm unable to locate authentic Deluxe seat frames for my Twincam FHC restoration project. However, I'm told that early MGB seat frames can be turned into a reasonable facsimile of the Deluxe seat frames by removing a 1" section from the horizontal sections of the tubing and rewelding them. Is this really true?

Yes. See here: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/interior/int112.htm

If you are a large guy, you do not want deluxe seats - much less room between them and the steering wheel.

Barney- In the first part of the article you seem to imply that the Drop Head Roadster and the Fixed Head Coupe used somewhat different seat frames. Will modified-as-described early MGB seat frames fit between the frame rails and transmission tuneel of the Fixed Head Coupe? Bill- I have a long torso and relatively short upper legs, so I'm not so tall that the Deluxe seats are unworkable. My problem is sitting almost too tall against the roof!

Steve, your email doesn't work, I must have an old address. How about emailing me with the new one.
Wray Lemke
Wray- I can't find your Email address!

Steve- Yes. The MGB seats made 1" narrower are functionally the same as the MGA competition/deluxe seats. They will fit the MGA Coupe same as the MGA Roadster. Those are both the same in the frame and floor and tunnel.
