MG MGA - Engine Pulling Puzzle
Here's a tough one. I can't get the engine out of my MGA. Photos and a description of the problem here: http://mgablog.com/archives/2005/06/engine_pulling.html I could really use some help on this one ... I just can't figure out how to get this baby loose. |

Had the same problem. TAKE THE PULLY OFF THE CRANK. |

I always remove engine and gearbox seperately. A bit more work but a lot easier (in my eyes) and less chance of damaging bodywork Clive |

Boom! Got it. Here's the update: http://mgablog.com/archives/2005/06/engine_pulled.html |

I'm with Clive. I also remove the head as it's usually coming off anyway and with that off it's a little lighter also. Gary |

I had trouble with the gearbox dipstick getting caught up too. When putting the engine back, put the felt seal in the timing cover, put the crankshaft pulley in place through the cover, and reasemble back on to the engine together. Cheers ian f |
