MG MGA - England in May

In late May, my wife and I will be in Oxford for a wedding using wedding cars sevenoaks. We plan to spend another 4 days in the area. We have been to London several times, so we want to stay in the countryside. We would love any ideas as to what to do for that week in middle England during mid-week.
Thanks
Jack

Oh, to be in England now that spring is here.

Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, in the village of Woodstock is nearby - spend a day in the house and grounds. Then go to the Cotswolds; stay in the Lygon Arms, in Broadway but you need to book ahead and its not cheap. The area should be pretty in May. Otherwise, visit Steve Gyles's Lake District.

Jack,

The Lake District's quite a drive from Oxford, (certainly an over-nighter, but I can recommend accomodation there if you want) the Cotswoulds are much nearer.

MG owners club at Swavesey (Cambridge)is an easy drive ....(don't forget to take your credit card)

Enjoy your visit.

Bath is an easy drive away.

The MGA register is holding a 50th Party at Waddsdon Manor on 22nd May. Should be a good event if the weather holds.

Apart from the MGA's I believe Waddsdon Manor was built by the Rothschild fanily in the style of a French Chateau.

Other places of interest atr Stow in the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Lower Slaughter and Stratford Upon Avon,

The above are all within about 40 miles of Oxford, let me know if you wish to travel further afield

Jack, Burford is a very nice village also. A40 / A361 intersection. Also Bibury for the bluebell woods.

A trip to the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon (about 1/2 hour from Oxford would be worthwhile - there is quite a strong MG presence there and as previously mentioned, Bourton in the Water is a very attractive large village with a delightful motor museum.
