MG MGA - Fuel King Pressure Regulator

Reading Barney's comments on the 'fuel pump Keeps Ticking...' thread got me wondering about my Fuel King regulator I have fitted with my Facet pump.

I don't have the original instructions at hand that came with the unit. How can I check what pressure it is putting out? i.e. is there a low cost gauge available for this sort of purpose? If so, please describe what I need to look for.

Is the Fuel King adjustable?

The top of my Fuel King looks similar to the attached.

Pick up a cheap combination vacuum/fuel pressure test gauge, like this:
http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/tools/ts126.htm
Put a "T" in the fuel hose to do a pressure test. Anywhere between the pump and the pressure regulator will give you the pump output pressure. Anywhere between the regulator and the carburetor will give the regulator output pressure.

That regulator should be adjustable (if you feel the need). Remove the cap nut. loosen the jam nut. Turn adjusting screw with a screwdriver as you watch the fuel pressure gauge. Lock the jam nut and reinstall the cap nut.

If you have the right fuel pump there is no need for a pressure regulator.

Thanks Barney. I have one of those in store. I will be reunited with my garage equipment on 1 June.

I used to use a gauge exactly the same as the one shown on Barney's site Steve. I needed it to set the fuel delivery pressure for the Amal carb float chamber on my Villiers engined Race Kart. I used a Facet electronic fuel pump on the kart.

Steve, you could also set the output pressure without a gauge using a long vertical clear plastic tube by adjusting the height above ground level, like a barometor.
