MG MGA - Fuel Leak

I recently notice a significant weaping of fuel from the flex fuel line, at or near the junction with the rear carb. It's a braided line, so I can't tell precisely where the fuel is coming from. Is this likely just a fuel line problem, or could it be a symptom of problems with the float chamber valve?

It could be a bad flex line, or, it could be that the copper washers are not sealing on the banjo fitting at the end of the flex line. If the float chamber valve is not working correctly, the excess fuel would be comming out of the overflow lines, and, you would be experiencing very rich running conditions.

Thanks Ed. It's the flex-line between the rear carb and the metal fuel line that is weeping. I'll replace it and see if that solves the problem.

The flex pipes split eventually, it's especially common for the pipe between shelf and carbs as it is permanently compensating for engine movement and vibration.

If the two braided hoses are the same age it would be good working practice to renew both. It's also a reminder that all the rubber hoses and seals on the car need to be periodically replaced!

Good point Neil. I'll replace both! Thanks.
