MG MGA - Fuel Line Routing

How is the fuel line routed between the fuel pump and the first bracket under the floor board support rail. I removed the original over a year ago (thought I had a picture, memory fades...) and am now installing new lines. The rear axle and springs are off the car.

A photo would really help!

Thanks,

Don,

On my car it makes a 3.5 inch bend over and behind the fuel pump and then connects with the first of six welded u-clips on the chassis rail.

I have a couple pictures from other angles if this doesn't do it for you, but I didn't take any from under the car.

This information is also confirmed by Todd Clark on page 49-50 of his technical booklet.

Hope this helps,
Christopher

Here is one other shot taken just before removal with some other stuff out of the way, it might be a little clearer.

Cheers,

Christopher, thanks for the photos. I can't tell from the pictures but it looks like the line runs inside the rear spring bracket. Is that the case?

Looks like you have a major project going there.

Thanks,

Don,

Take a look here, it runs to the outside. This is the best pic I have of that. You can just see the fuel line to the outside of the leaf spring and bracket. This was before I removed it from the car.

Cheers,
Christopher

Don,

I ran my fuel line as Christopher shows from the fuel pump but inside the spring hanger along with the battery cable. This was partially done to prevent damage. Image attached is out of focus but you get the idea.

The routing may be a matter of preference, as both ways go to the rear welded clip on the frame.

Christopher and Jim, thanks to both of you for the quick response. I found a photo that I took before removing the fuel pump and lines. It appears to go outside the spring as shown in Christopher's photo. I have owned this car since 1972 and believe that that was the original fuel line. It looks as though running it inside the spring bracket would provide more protection for the fuel line.

I had to replace the corner bracket and the outer floorboard support so my new hanger brackets are not exactly where they were originally and neither are the welded nuts.

I'll post a photo when I get everything (fuel line, brake line, wiring harness, and starter cable) installed and secured.
